Continentiestichting Nederland (CSN) - Continence Foundation of the Netherlands.
It is estimated that around half a million people in the Netherlands suffer from some form of urinary incontinence. Proper care for all these patients is only possible if sufficient funds can be allocated to this problem. Care for incontinent patients is expensive since it involves the use of medication, diapers, incontinence pads and catheters. Despite the prevalence of urinary incontinence, relatively little research is being done to find new effective treatment and improve what is currently available. Scientific research costs a huge amount of money. Until recently, there were no foundations in the Netherlands that specifically supported research into the problem of incontinence. CSN was founded to change this situation.
One of the first goals of CSN was to facilitate the organisation of an important international conference in the Netherlands by co-hosting the 2007 annual meeting of the International Continence Society to be held 20-24 August at “De Doelen” Congress Centre in Rotterdam. This conference will focus nationwide attention on the problem of urinary incontinence. After this event, CSN will continue to provide financial support for scientific research and supply patients and caregivers with objective information.
Professor Ruud Bosch, Chairman CSN
